It's always interesting when gospel artists make it onto a compilation album, particularly when it's an album of contemporary soul music. On this album tucked away in a corner amongst the "baby you're so sexy, I'm your Mr Love Man" songs, you will find Mighty Clouds Of Joy and For The Gospel! This album should be in your collection if you're really into sweet soul music (the Rosie Gaines tracks are particualrly fine!) but the more sensitive person might be slightly offended by some of the content! The Mighty Clouds' song "I'm Ready" has been knocking around for a couple of years now and is a catchy piece of R&B gospel whilst For The Gospel's "Realise" fits well into the overall format of the album with a stripped down soul feel and a strong message proclaiming Jesus. Not sure whether there's enough here for a gospel aficionado to merit purchase but for the unsuspecting soul fan, the inclusion of some church brothers can only be a good thing!
