From the moment the bass and drums kick in on the opening track "He's Real" by The Marvels it is hard not to feel uplifted by this album. It is a celebration of life, redemption, faith and a call to Christian discipleship all in one. It "does exactly what it says on the tin" - gives a selection of songs in reggae style from such well known reggae artists as Chevelle Franklyn, Osmond Collins, Hensley King and Luciano interspersed with one or two obscurities (George Nukes and QQ). The album showcases the variety of styles that come under the reggae umbrella, from the lovers rock of "He's Real" to the soulful sound of "God Is My Keeper" by Ken Parker And JC Lodge and the ska horns and toasting style of QQ. All of the songs have the trademark bass guitar and second beat rhythm of reggae, but there is no sense of everything sounding the same! A collection to appeal to those who like good music of any kind. Not for die-hard reggae fans alone, but for anyone who is looking for worship music performed with considerable life and joy.
