Inspection of the wince-inducing cover design leads me to conclude that these laid back tracks are an aid to stressed out parents to lull tiny ones into dreamland. Michael Card had the same idea years ago. Here we have songs culled from various artists' albums all paced to make this reviewer guilty of being asleep on duty. My confusion might lie in some lyrics, will a young baby understand a guy singing about not fulfilling his dreams and becoming a family man instead? Still perhaps I am a grumpy old man because there are some good tracks on this generous slice of mice fodder. My favourite is the opener "I Can Only Imagine Lullabye" by MercyMe's Bart Millard, closely followed by Kate Miner's "Hung The Moon" and there is an acoustic version of "Somewhere In The World" by Wayne Watson. Many of the 16 tracks are geared to American sweet tastebuds such as Bob Carlisle's hit "Butterfly Kisses" but for those mellow moments, Michael W Smith, Twila Paris, Amy Grant, Debby Boone, Russ Taff to name a few, might have just what you need to rock your little sweetheart to sleep on a cold winter night.
