This is a treat for all fans of proper Celtic music, and when I say proper Celtic music I am not referring to any of those ersatz offerings that have been foisted upon us lately by those record company execs who can spot a bandwaggon at 500 paces. This is the real stuff, featuring well known names such as Joanne Hogg, Maire Brennan, Capercarlle, David Fitzgerald and the Celtic Expressions Of Worship team, along with some who are unknown to all but dyed-in-the-wool devotees: Martin Nolan, Savourna Stevenson and Gregg Miner. Admittedly this two-CD set is a compilation, but the tracks have been chosen with care, so there are traditional Gaelic hymns and songs, Celtified worship songs both ancient and modern, original compositions in Celtic style, and music from other traditions and countries played on traditional instruments. If you're thinking about investigating the ethereal beauty of the Celtic music style, you can't do better than start here.
