Headed up by Grammy Award-winning emcee Thi'sl, the aim of this 2013 compilation was to do something about the lack of female presence in the world of hip-hop and, thanks to the wealth of talent found here, it's clear that these ladies are more than a match for their male counterparts in terms of skilful wordplay and passionate delivery. Proceedings are bookended by two enthralling spoken word pieces from Jackie Hill with heavy hitting Christian hip-hop acts like Cho'zyn, Natalie Lauren (the artist formerly known as Suzy Rock) and Marz all communicating their standing in society as strong women of faith in forthright fashion. In a world where the rights of women are quite rightly being highlighted as never before, the artists here temper their cause by ensuring the listener knows that being a women of God is the key to true female liberation and tracks like V Rose's "He Does" and Sicily and Jasmine Le'Shea's "Trust In You" put this point across without compromise. Elsewhere, the sanctity of marriage in "One Man Girl" by Nonna and dealing with the despair in Hee Sun Lee's "Turn Me Around" are covered with cast iron certainty and further highlight the fact that Christian hip-hop - not least when delivered by the women in its ranks - is able to boldly communicate Biblical truths and principles like no other CCM genre can.
