Birmingham-based Roger Moore's Divine Intavention company has, over the past few years, brought out compilation CDs featuring young and not-so-young local talent - in the process introducing us to potential stars such as singer Dee Moore and white grime rapper Sammy G. Naturally, they're now looking to expand .but whereas the Gospel 4U CDs always yielded a few gems, this attempt to add a visual element fails on several counts. The whole thing feels really staid and there's an amazing lack of stage presence from many of the artists. I'm sure they were probably allowed to use their church building for free, but material such as Sammy G's just looks out of place when performed in front of stained-glass windows, and this would have looked a lot better if it had been filmed in a club. And to add to the lacklustre feel, the MC has his face buried in his script instead of looking into the camera whilst introducing the acts. Overall, this looks more like a home video of a church evening than a professional DVD made for commercial sale. Sorry guys, but you really need to go back to the drawing board on this one.
