At the time of writing, I have just become a grandfather. I well remember how we tried to get our eldest daughter to go to sleep after feeding time - a rocking chair (which fell to bits shortly after she began sleeping through the night) and Glenn Miller records. How she'll cope with Jemma Louise in the same situation is anybody's guess, but I'm not sure if this album would help. The title is of course a quote from Bob Carlisle's smasheroo, which is included in this mixture of classical pieces, nursery rhymes, traditional hymns and contemporary music. The mood is relaxed throughout, as befits its "lullaby" intentions, there are prayers spoken by various kiddy winkers at the start of some tracks, and so we meander through Brahms and Mozart, "Rock-a-bye Baby", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Edelweiss" and other similar stuff, with gentle noises coming from the various musicians. Bob's rendition of his classic, with just cello, understated synth backing and his own acoustic guitar as accompaniment, is the best track by a country mile, and quite honestly the only one that's worth listening to; I suppose the rest of the music was chosen for its sound rather than anything else. If you let it just wash over you, it'll probably achieve its intention by sending you to sleep.
