The book Before Amen is a teaching on prayer by bestselling author Max Lucado. Max speaks at the start and end of the album as an introduction and summing up of the subject. In-between are tracks of a mainly devotional nature on the subjects covered by the book. On "Devotion" Kathryn Scott beautifully sings the evergreen "What A Friend" while "10,000 Reasons" (recorded at Soul Survivor) highlights "Thank You". There are also new songs from Darlene Zschech ("My Highest Hope") and Rita Baloche ("Father You Are Good"). I fully understand the aim of the album and it achieves it as an aid to the book, but as a standalone album, despite all the singing talent and glossy production, there is little to make 'Before Amen: A Worship Collection' jump out.

Product Description
Before Amen: A Worship Collection is the music companion to the new book from bestselling author Max Lucado, Before Amen: The Power Of A Simple Prayer. Before Amen is Lucado's most personal and candid book to date. It is written for everyone who wants to pray more, better and stronger, with more fire, faith and fervency. Lucado writes: "Since you matter to God, your prayers matter in heaven. You are never without hope because you are never without prayer."
Before Amen: A Worship Collection is a wonderful backdrop for prayer and personal devotion, offering a track list that perfectly complements the book.
Featuring artists such as Darlene Zschech, Kari Jobe, Rend Collective, Michael W Smith, Amy Grant, All Sons & Daughters, Paul Baloche and John Mark McMillan, the songs focus on the majesty of God while also drawing the listener into an intimacy with our Abba Father.
