A veritable who's who of Christian musicians from a decade ago; this album is a reissue of one which originally came out in 1995. The concept - music inspired by the sermons of Scotland's Oswald Chambers gathered together for the classic devotional My Utmost For His Highest - still feels fresh and the production is crisp and classy. The songs don't appear to have dated at all and the quality of the songwriting and performance shines through. The one outstanding track, I think, is by Gary Chapman called "Man After Your Own Heart", a very emotive ballad. Each artist has taken a small portion of a sermon and produced a devotional or inspirational song to go with it. The CD is classily produced Nashville CCM. Yet despite the presence of heavyweights such as Amy Grant, 4Him, Bryan Duncan, Point Of Grace, Michael W Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman, with his truly dreadful mid-'90s haircut, the music here seemed too safe and formulaic.
