Hooray! Another hymn collection! (And, yes, of course "Amazing Grace" is in there - it's track one). The hymns can be brilliant poems of theology, experience and adoration - and any church that doesn't know the worship sets of previous generations of saints is the poorer for it. However, for the new generation of younger Christians this isn't the best place to begin exploring. Musically, this isn't a contemporary sounding production at all. There is not a guitarist or rhythm section in sight. It's all trumpets, the odd clashing cymbal for climactic choruses and an easy listening choir. In a way, it's the equivalent of a 50 song episode of 'Songs Of Praise' (without the visuals). That may be Heaven for some of you (or the other place) but it's beautifully produced: all sweeping violins and majestic choirs. Completely old fashioned, of course, but if you want a large collection of traditional hymns recorded in a very traditional way this is for you.
