Released as a Christmas EP in 2018, this is a collection of five self-penned tracks from an artist who wants to remain anonymous on the themes of winter and loneliness. Yes, it's melancholy, in a sort of Leonard Cohen way, but the lyrics are faith-based so the mood is sometimes bleak but never hopeless. Perhaps the most accessible song is "Hibernating". Thoughtful, meditative words that paint pictures for us over an attractive tune and intriguing instrumentation. I also liked the first track "Rising And Falling". It could be a Christmas song, but a very, very alternative one with some interesting chords and a techy overlay. The final song is "Lullaby Part 2", a very dark lullaby that slips into blood and death. The lovely acoustic guitar picking throughout is supplemented by a wash of synthetic sound that delivers a truly wintery haze across the EP.
