Ever since I heard their '3-28-27' album, Undercover has been one of my most highly esteemed bands, not only because of its interesting version of alternative music (taken to new lengths on this, their eighth album), but also due to its honest lyrics. As usual, lyricist Ojo explores relationships, but the music is considerably varied given previous efforts: there are straightforward indie-type songs, there is a sprinkling of fiddle throughout and there are even allusions to 'Great Gig In The Sky' era Pink Floyd (don't quote me), all of which completes a rather eclectic album. Having said that, though, it does take a few listens to really appreciate it, a fact not helped by new vocalist Rob Gallas's plainish singing (it's not awful, though). Whatever my preferences, it's clear that 'Forum' is a good album which deserves recognition from everyone.
