I never knew the UCLA had a gospel choir until this album landed on my doorstep and what a refreshing surprise! Indeed, after listening to the album for the very first time, the first thing that hits you is the fact that it covers a cross section of different gospel styles reminiscent of the Sounds Of Blackness and their 'Evolution Of Gospel' albeit on 10 tracks. All the material here is very well produced and devoid of such nasties as dubbed in crowd hysteria and maverick Sopranos screeching off their heads. No, this is a civilised and controlled piece of work directed by James Roberson who has brought in the Gospel Gangstas for the track "Long As I Live" just to give the album some cred as well as throwing in some really touches elsewhere on the titles "Two Wings" and "I'm His Child". By the last track I was left with the feeling that this album will grow on anyone searching for a new breath of energy and excitement, something that this album has in great abundance. Enjoy.
