Tom Lane is a worship songwriter and leader based in Nashville and has featured on several previous recordings; also having worked with a heap of CCM artists worldwide, including Ron Kenoly, Rick Cua, Phil Keaggy and Matt Redman. With a striking rock'n'roll voice and a rootsy folk/rock style, Lane leads us through a varied set of his own tunes. Many are punchy with some edgy guitar and well bring out the thrust of Lane's gutsy vocals. There are a couple of more tender pieces, like the glidingly worshipful "Into Your Presence", and the yearning cry of "Pour Out Your Spirit". Reminiscent to a degree of the powerful, raw tones of Darryl Evans or Mark Miller, these tunes somehow aren't as memorable - excepting perhaps the '80s sounding "I Love Your Ways" - nor do they reach the same depth. A reasonable album then, but a bit dated and not accessible enough to make a lasting impression.
Tom Lennie hails from Orkney, loves Christian literature and also music, but especially loves growing in God.
