This album by Rochester, New York-based singer/songwriter Tiffany Dawn Robison has, with repeated play, been growing on me. The lyrics in particular repay more reflective attention, while the appealing melodies are catchy and enhance the varied themes. Tiffany Dawn has a light voice that suits the personal nature of the songs, though at times the musical accompaniment is a little too prominent - a more intimate acoustic setting would have allowed the words to breathe more. We do get glimpses of this approach in some of the quieter moments on the album, especially the last two tracks "This Is Who I Am" and the beautifully simple "Song In My Heart". The album's themes are an interesting mix. Romance figures strongly - there's a tough break up song "Get Out Of My Head" (wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of it!) balanced by the touching and intimate "Giving In". There's a strong spiritual element in many of the songs as she reflects on life and love - "Dust" and "Empty Hands" are particularly good examples. Beauty is also a prominent theme, treated in a very personal way (check out "This Is Beauty") which links with the singer's teaching work with young girls as she challenges current notions of beauty.
