Over the years, NGM in Bristol has been the homebase for various club-orientated bands, DJs and other musical ventures. With ThunderShock, there's a noticeable shift in musical direction - 1980s electro rock/pop, rather than club/dance music is the predominant influence for this new band, which is headed up by songwriter and producer Daniel Goudie (son of NGM founders Ray and Nancy Goudie), and fronted by vocalist Dawn Ritchie (whose dad once fronted Scottish rockers Triumph). Imagine a fusion of Kim Wilde and Yazoo (the group, not the milkshake) and you'll have something of an idea of what to expect on "Watch This Space". Despite opening on quite a moody note "Two Weeks" really rocks at the end. "A Piece Of The Puzzle" has echoes of the Human League and "Chance" is a brooding, synth-laden, power ballad. Finale "Time Will Tell" is the odd one out, its 1990s "Club Mix" production style is more akin to earlier NGM projects. A varied, but nonetheless capable, debut EP.
