There's a big, big buzz in America's Christian music world for Three Crosses and it's easy to see and hear why. For mainstream America is currently in the grips of a craze for roots rock. Now before all you mandolin-toting Eden Burning clones rush off your demos to the US, let me explain that in the States the phrase means bluesy rock of the post-Allman Brothers/Lynyrd Skynyrd era and bands like the Jayhawks are big and getting bigger. The Three Crosses have the lazy bluesy clout to be a CCM equivalent. In fact Lynyrd Skynyrd oldie Barry Beckett produced this set and a solid delight it is. The bands opener showcases the group's strengths, the rhythm section is drum tight while the organ and slide guitar are as Southern as grits and cornbread. "Just Another Sign Of The Times" treads the midwest/delta territory of a John Melcamp while on "The Devil Ain't Got No Hold" the band do a little honky tonkin'. A magnificent debut from a band you'll be hearing much more.
