Falling into the standard pop rock style that is contemporary British worship, The Way Ahead deliver a six-track collection of songs. Working for YWAM, this is a well-intentioned effort and I can imagine these songs working well in a live worship setting but when captured on CD, they are hampered by the weak vocals and insipid hissy production. Although there are some attempts to escape the clutches of the cliches of modern worship, this rarely gets off the ground. However the closing "Be Still" sees them stretching furthest with an ambient worshipful ballad stretched to eight minutes with a Tre Shepherd guest guitar coda. This trio should be congratulated for stepping into the studio and this acts as a good marker for future recordings to exceed.
