The problem with facing a release from producer/songwriter Keith Lancaster's The Acappella Company is album saturation. Ever since the CCM industry discovered the American public's taste for acappella male voice harmonies Lancaster's outfit has been tirelessly pouring out albums of variable quality. At least The Vocal Union are a real group as opposed to session singers, though leader Gary Miller has done plenty of session work too and this seven piece purvey seamlessly slick harmonies on a mixture of snappy popsters and cool ballads. The best songs by far are "I Know" (written by Gary Miller) and "Once Upon A Tree" (Keith Lancaster and Bruce Coleson), both now on the UCB Inspiration playlist. For the rest though, it's average acappella fare.

I think they truly have the talent that is exeptional and their songs provide us with the spiritual inspiration that is needed.

VU is a high energy, dynamic group of talent beyond words. Their songs are from the heart. I hate to say that they perform, because that makes what they do seem so theatrical. What they do is draw the audience in, because each work they sing is inspired and full of God's word. They are the vessel, He is the potter.
