The Thomas Confession are a four-piece outfit from Sacramento, California, who have fused together a number of genres to create a likeable debut album. Highlight of the album and opener "Love Like Fire" is a dynamic and almost danceable number. The fusion of the guitar, drums and keyboard is stunning, with the end result producing a sound not dissimilar to that of Shiny Toy Guns. "Put Your Mind To It" follows swiftly after and here we see the band's musical talents showcased further, the skilful guitar solo is perhaps the most noteworthy. "You're Asking Me", "Heartbreaking Sight" and "When Everyone's Dancing" are the other high points, interspersed with the remaining tracks of a slower nature. Whilst I have nothing against these less animated songs, it seems as if the setup of The Thomas Confession is more suited to songs that have a higher tempo. Although the self made comparisons with Muse are most certainly too strong and, the vocals are, at times, hard to understand this is still such an impressive debut that it's likely you'll be hearing tracks one and two and the grower "When Everyone's Dancing" on Cross Rhythms radio. Here's hoping the band are now hard at work following up this 2011 release.
