Not a lot to say about this new comprehensive seasonal collection of hymns and songs ancient and modern around the Easter festival, other than very good. 186 reasons for the season in making music available for churches to sing their hearts out for the Lord at Easter. Well chosen, well arranged, well produced, this new edition in the Kevin Mayhew series is a worthy addition to any worship leader's resources. With Kendrick, Redman, Richards and the Smiths alongside Watts and Wesley this collection with its Easter emphasis is unusual for such a selective slant, but with the attention to scriptural and thematic reference detail, Easter Source is a great resource for churches. Alphabetically assembled by song title the hymns are easy to find. For future editions, the editor could note that one of my favourites, hymn number 170 "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross" should be added to the Index for songwriter Isaac Watts. Just thought it was worth a mention to show that I had done my homework! I'm off now to look for the Mayhew companion 'Christmas Source' to sing some carols!
