A fascinating taster of a Pennsylvanian band who are apparently on the brink of something big after signing with mainstream mighties Epic (hasn't Martyn Joseph warned them?). This six-song mix of new and early material is a tasty starter if you missed their first two Tooth & Nail albums. Edging close to the prog-rock sides of Mansun and The Smashing Pumpkins, The Juliana Theory paint more subtly than their three-guitar attack implies. Harmonies shine, pianos tinkle and singer Brett Delar warns "this is the end of your life". Heck, there's even new romantic and country influences peeking from under the carefully piled six-strings. How about spending some of those Sony bucks on a British tour?
