Veteran gospel group of 40 years experience, originally an acapella outfit, but using a rhythms section on these recent recordings. The harmony is still positively to the fore though and the general style still loyally treads the good old paths. The tremendous Southern soul singer James Carr started with this group and for what might be his last recordings due to ill health, returns for three songs. It must be said that hearing Mr Carr roaring through a great track like "He'll Be There" makes his absence greatly missed on tracks where he's not involved. Apart from him the proceedings are enjoyable without ever really taking off or stirring the soul deeply. Good quality abounds though, well worth a listen.
