This release is the debut EP from a Northern Ireland-based quintet featuring ex-Nervous Passenger frontman Neil Alton. The opening track "The Wolf" has a jazzy vibe with deep bass and short, snappy guitar riffs. The strong accent of Neil helps gives the band a quirky edge. Once you have listened to the first two tracks you think you know how the EP is styled but track three "Walls" is very slow-paced. The drums are subtle and the guitar is soothing demonstrating the band's versatility while the last track "Small Comforts" is a gentle, acoustic song. Lyrically Alton intriguingly references wolves and lions on two of the songs while the closer is a direct reference to the Lord. Although 'We Started With Bricks' only contains four tracks, this EP really does show what talent The Fickle Few have.
