A Scottish band, with an Irish frontman, on a German label, recording an album in Nashville? Well, it's amazing where backing Julie Miller can take you. For their "difficult third album" Sammy Homer's squad, with new members Kris McEwan and Heather Negus in tow, upped and headed west to the country capital of the world for some sessions with the Millers. And clearly the surroundings had an effect. This is the rootsiest Electrics album yet, largely due to the mandolin and fiddle of McEwan; despite its American recording it's also the most Irish-sounding, in the vein of Homer's last 'Celtic Praise' outing. Whilst C&W can trace some roots back to English and Celtic folk music, it's interesting that the band ended up crossing the Atlantic to go back to basics. Hard to choose a stand-out track, but here's betting a pint or two that listeners will find the title song still on their mental sofa the next day. This set certainly won't disappoint existing Electrics fans, and deserves to swell that number considerably. Oh, and look out for a secret track on CD, featuring a "rather shpecial guesht" (sic).
