STYLE: Ambient/Meditational RATING OUR PRODUCT CODE: 7875-7636 LABEL: Independent FORMAT: CD Album

Following the Greybearded One’s less than enthusiastic review of Damon Newman and Paul Howarth’s last release in CR73, this follow-up is more meditational guitar music with interesting rhythms and melodies. However, Tony commented on a crudity of recording quality, and whilst I haven’t listened to ‘Eulabes’, I think I know what he means. I’m not sure if the effect is intentional, or perhaps my review copy is faulty, but the whole listening experience was spoilt for me by an unpleasant distorted sound which negated any enjoyment I might have gained from the music itself. Damon mentions in his covering letter that he’s planning to go into a bigger studio in the not too distant future; I respectfully suggest, on the evidence of this CD, that it can’t come soon enough. Very disappointing.
