'Duncan's Greatest Hits' is a collection of Duncan the Donut's (and accomplices) songs and set pieces and is part of the Integrity Music 'Just For Kids' series, so in order to get the low down I showed the video to Master Matthew Miles, aged four and a half. Matthew liked the video so much that he asked to keep it which is certainly a good sign. He also sang along to some of the songs. He didn't really relate to Duncan the Donut as a donut (or anything else) but hey, this isn't a science. In the long term Matthew will remember some of the Scripture quotes in the programme which is no bad thing but there wasn't enough explanation in terms that are relevant to children. One of the songs for example used the words "Cast your burden on Jesus" without relating the phrase to the intended audience. There are the inevitable culture clashes. Not only is there the matter of the video being of US origin but the clash between the Christian and secular. There is a laudable statement on the video's cover from Integrity's president noting the company's commitment to help people experience God's presence. This is juxtaposed by the opening FBI warning. Still, the important thing is that a young per son will watch this video and learn more of God's grace.
