A "thank you" from the band to the fans (no, I don't think that means you get it free!), this is a live album culled from the 'Free Flying Soul' tour over five different concerts. Apparently this is likely to be their last "proper" tour. I will get my gripe out of the way first. Due to the cut and paste nature of this album, you get the band saying their farewells for the first time less than halfway through the album. Live albums come into two categories - redundant greatest hits collections or a chance to hear the band really let fly. For me, the Seventy Sevens' live album is THE prime example of the second, where some of the songs are transformed into 10-plus minute-long freeform jams - some people's idea of purgatory, I'm sure. This release certainly falls closer to the second category. Derri's voice is too clear for the grungier sound that the guys have evolved into for my liking - rather like Art Garfunkel fronting Nirvana! Live, however, his voice fits in much better, plus we get a chance to hear a couple of tracks from their "jangly" period revamped into their newer sound. No tracks from "Wide Eyed Wonder', but there is a version of "Beautiful Scandalous Night" from their 'At The Foot Of The Cross' worship project. Not half bad.
