The Beulah Band are Phil White, singer, guitarist, mandolin, bouzouki and bodhran player and Andy Thornton, musician, producer, and engineer best known as a member of Big Sur and more recently the musical mastermind behind the 'rave praise' Nine O'clock Service that blessed thousands at Green belt this year. Here the talented twosome, helped out by assorted muso friends, produce a fine album of richly eclectic music which moves from Celtic roots to punchy rock to introspective singer/songwriter and even a 'Dancing In The Fountain Of Love' black gospel. One pound from each tape's sale goes towards the Scottish Frontier Youth Trust, an agency fighting to assist young people on the margins of society. My only gripe is that there are no lyrics on the inlay because Phil White packs more into a verse than most songwriters manage in a five album deal. Buy this fine album.
