18 tracks of raw, trim, action packed R&B from the veteran blues bandits. In the faraway early 60s The Betterdays were the West Country's answer to big boys like the Stones, their many fans reckoning that when the boys came out to play they could stand proud in any company. This CD will be snapped up by those attending the current Plymouth pub gigs, unusually still featuring the same five musicians 20 years later. Familiar blues classics about, some Chuck Berry rock 'n' roll, and a brace of live tracks from way back when, including one recorded at the Quay Club where the undying legend was born. Harmonica, slide guitar, pumping rhythm, rippling keyboard, Mike Hayne's growling vocals, all neatly in place. It'll never grow old.
