Effie, Leanne and Melissa Tantrum are the Temper Tantrums, three teenagers playing The Ramones at their own game, but for the Lord. This is speed garage, but a little more polite than some of the more doom laden male bands do it, and as the style demands is authentically low-fi and delightfully loose. Among the 18 songs (plus bonus track - total playing time under 30 minutes!) titles such as "Boys", "Mophead" and "Sometimes I Hate School" are self explanatory. "Acapulco" tells the bizarre story of a road trip truncated by lack of oil in the van, so the girls headed for the beach with their skateboards, only to discover that skateboards and sand don't mix. Add to that a speed cover of the standard chorus "River Of Life" and you have an album which left me with a huge grin on my face - which was nice!
