In case TVB don't ring any bells let me enlighten you. They're, and I quote from the official blurb, "the itinerant band of British Youth For Christ-communicating Christianity through contemporary music." So what's their CD like? Eclectic is the best way to describe it. The six tracks (including two remixes) move from the dance sound of "Price On Your Head", through the funky "Perfect Man", complete with horn section, onto the stand-out track "Last Time (acoustic version)" which, with a hint of Jars Of Clay, dares the listener to "learn what it is to love." Indeed, it is in the lyrics department that this CD shines. Challenging the values of modern youth culture in a way that is perceptive and constructive. At 24 minutes and with an obviously tight budget, this release is unlikely to blaze a trail through any charts, but what it does do very successfully is to give a taste of how great these guys could be in a school setting, their professed specialism. So if you work with any sort of youth group, do yourself a favour - book TVB.
