There are only three vocal tracks on this disc by female dance outfit T-Girl, but with it the band formerly known as Tomorrow’s Girl show signs of bigger and better things to come. This is an enhanced CD, and includes video track “T-Girl Interactive”, which teaches dance moves to accompany the songs. And I suspect that just might be enough information to give you an indication of who this album is marketed at – teenage girls. But that aside, ‘Since You’ve Been Around’ does do well what it is aiming to do in what is still a reasonably narrow field in Christian music – R&B and dance-tinged pop. With strong voices reminiscent of American girl band Destiny’s Child, the girls sing along to catchy tunes with an electronic feel that do grow on you after a few listens. The title track kicks off the album – an upbeat song with the chorus: “You make me all I can be, there’s something in you that I’ve found/So take me, don’t leave me,/Cause I feel good since you’ve been around.” Ambiguous lyrics, perhaps, but the overall perspective the album is coming from is a positive one.
