Superchick are boisterous. Although with Tricia and Melissa Brock providing the girly vocals, the instrumental backing of Matt Dally on bass, Dave Ghazarian of lead guitar, and Max Hsu on keyboards is pugnacious. Reinvention is described in places as a remix album, which has misleading connotations of a dance remix. This is certainly pop with a feelgood factor. For example "Karaoke Superstars (Shiny Car Advert Mix)" is about driving along in the car, turning the music up and singing along. In fact the whole album has a positive uplifting message. This is teen girly pop with a bit of attitude, hence comparisons to Avril Lavigne although the lead singer looks more like Debbie Harry. One of the remixes is even sub-titled "Teens Falling In/Out Of Love". These reinvented tracks are certainly more electronic than their pop rock originals, which may win them a wider audience, but they don't lose their rocky foundation. "Let It Roll" stands out for its similarities to Toby Mac's vocal style and "Pure" has a great hook in the chorus. Studio whiz Max Hsu has done a great job reinventing these oldies for 2010.
