Those who've followed the long career of Scottish songsmith Steven will know that after a series of well received independent recordings Mr Sproat finally found a level of fame as the writer of successful ukulele teaching books. It has been a while since Steven has released any recorded material but this single is worth the wait. He has the kind of easy listening pop voice that works well on radio and "Holding On" adds to this beautiful harmonies from his daughter and some great soprano sax stabs. Underlying it all is Steven's ukulele - remarkable the first time he has recorded ukulele given that he is acknowledged as one of the best players in the country.
