Bringing Brown Bannister in to produce Steve Green was a great idea. As Charlie Peacock proved on 'Coram Deo 2', Steve Green does not have to be as appallingly corny as some of his albums would suggest. And on the Bannister-produced opener "We Trust In The Name Of The Lord Our God" our hero gives the same sinuous, pop riffs to Steve that made Twila Paris' last album such a groove. Next up is a track produced by Greg Nelson, who in the past has perpetrated some of Steve's worst excesses in melodramatic inspirational pomp. He clearly takes the hint and produces an engaging "Glory To You" with Steve sounding more than a bit like Cliff Richard over a nice guitar riff. Then things start to slip. Just when you think Steve is going to turn in his first good album for years the musical melodrama, and swathes of over produced balladry takes over. Good in parts, but for this reviewer the sooner Steve shakes off all the shackles of OTT inspirational melodrama the better.

I have this cd by Steve in my huge ccm collection; I wouldn't be without it! I had heard the song "Glory to YOU" play on ccm radio; I was immediately taken by it: great song for you to record Steve! The cd opener, "We Trust in the Name of the LORD GOD" is a great song to start this cd of songs; it's also another fave of mine: also the song was written by the very talented CCM artist Steven Curtis Chapman. There are some well-known backing vocalists such as Chris Eaton, Lisa Glasgow , Bev Darnall & Chris Rodriquez(to name some); they compliment the songs so well
as only they could do. Another singer/songwriter Cheryl Rogers adds her vocals to the song "Great is the LORD GOD", she also provides bgv's for the beautiful song "Emmaus".What a choir on the song "Kings Shall Bow"; to include First Call's Marty McCall and Bonnie Keen, Lisa Glasgow, Jackie Cusic & Bev Darnall (to name some). The cd title is from the song "That's Where Mercy Begins"; luv this song!:great bgv's for this song; a masterpiece! Well-
known CCM singer/songwriter/musician Michael Card & the well-known Phil Naish contributed the song "The Beauty of the Bride"; a song of beauty. This is a song for today, "We shall see HIM coming.....SOONER THAN WE KNOW!...and ALL AT ONCE HE WILL APPEAR!". EVERY song on this cd is worth the listening pleasure, and compliments.
I believe this has got to be one of Steve's finest projects released. GOD Bless! -Don
