Those junglists amongst Cross Rhythms readers (are there any?) for which this single is old hat by now may be surprised at it being reviewed in a Christian magazine. Fair enough, I don't know that those involved are Christians, but what makes it of interest to Cross Rhythms readers is that it is a cover version of the spiritual Nu Colours song of the same name. Here the song is spread across several 12 inch records/CDs and in essence is a jungle tune driven along by a simple but infectious vocal from Elisabeth Troy, with vibes/strings/organ (depending on the remix) holding it all together. The original CD is by far the best, with the "Radio Edit" being easy enough on the ears for mass acceptance and the moody strings and saxophone sections of the "Retro Grade 'N' Motion Mix" transforming the song into a near classic.
