The largest diamond in the crown jewels was found by accident one night as the diamond-mine owner went for an evening stroll. The Soul Survivas, a hip-hop aggregation from Florida, mine a rich vein every now and again but seem to slog it out most of the time without finding much at all. They have a formula that they stick to: a keyboard pad with drum loop which they rap over to their hearts' content. It's old hat and not offering anything to the listener that we haven't heard elsewhere for the last 15 years. However, when they find the diamond it's a pretty big one. "Christlike" is an infectious track with some fine didactic attached to it. They have worked hard on the vocals and the hook does what it's supposed to. All in all, an excellent Christian radio track. "What Is Hip-Hop" is the lowest point of their mining, an ill considered, not to say smarmy defense of hip-hop.
