After the worldwide viral video hit with this EP's title song, Sonseed could be one of the best known Christian bands on the planet with over three million views of their YouTube clip. The band themselves were operating in New York in the late seventies/early eighties and were part of the Catholic church locally. Consequently, this is fairly typical Jesus Music and radical for the time. The neo-ska title cut may sound cheesy to 21st century ears but for the time, the band were on the cutting edge of church music. The rest of the album is musically diverse and mostly falls into the genre of seventies folk pop with an emphasis on harmonies and directly spiritual lyrics. This EP has distilled down the band's only full length recording (a thousand pressed) to a five track CD. Songs like "Sonseed" and "Another Kind Of Love Song" will have moved church audiences 30 years ago as the band ministered. A rousing closing version of "Oh Happy Day" fits in nicely to their repertoire. Despite the fact that millions viewed Sonseed's video merely to laugh at the whole proceeding this fascinating dip into the archives is not without a certain charm.
