Reviewed by Trevor Kirk Subtitled ‘A Recorded Project For The Persecuted Church In Sudan’, this album is made up of 12 tracks recorded on location in Sudan, written and sung by Sudanese youth choirs, with the aim of raising awareness in the West of the faith under persecution being endured by Christians in Sudan, and encouraging support both financial and intercessory. The project is the vision of Slater Armstrong, a former YWAM music minister, who arranged and paid for the export of recording equipment to Sudan to make these recordings, which have been remixed in world beat style, and Slater’s lead vocals feature on all tracks except the last one. As yet the project is still in the white label demo stage, and there’s frankly very little, if any, Christian music in this style, so it’s a bit of a “toe in the water” exercise. Even so, the message of the music is one that needs to be heard, and I know of at least one UCB presenter who would jump at the chance of playing this album on air. Let’s hope and pray that this becomes available, I liked it!
