'We Want To Shout' is the work of Paul and Yvonne Scott who have hosted Skippers Nippers at New Wine since 1990 and is aimed at both preschool and primary age groups. The songs are a mixture of up tempo praise songs and a number of songs about God's presence in times when we are sad or frightened - these I liked especially because they related to children's experiences. Most of the songs have very simple tunes and words, which can be a strength but also a weakness. By the end of the tape I felt that I had heard some very good songs and some that sounded very much the same; musically some of the tunes were very similar and the words of several songs lacked anything concrete that would relate to a child's experience. Very young preschool children do need simple songs, but it's not long before they can cope with remembering quite difficult songs. 'We Want To Shout' is available on cassette and backing tracks and music book are also available.
