A six song CD EP although three of the tracks are unlisted demos! Quirky, definitely different and refreshing for that very reason. Skinflowers aren't your normal Christian but instead seem to enjoy looking at everything from an obtuse angle. Thus some of the fun in this EP is trying to work out where they're coming from. The title cut is a provocative exploration of the dreams of men - the get more stuff, hard work, success means more stuff more happiness equation - all of which will only let you down! Another highlight is 'Waiting And Keeping Promises' which seems to be about spiritual emancipation (can you tell I'm guessing here?). I also like the 1998 demo of 'Come Back Hungry' with its guitar textures and haunting chorus. 'Melt' is a gloriously close to things with its explosive guitars and whining vocals! Both of these come courtesy of vocalist/guitarist G-Man who is accompanied in the Skinflowers by Rich:T! G-Man's vocals are definitely an acquired taste but there's something strangely emotional about his distinctive whine! Everything about this band is an enigma but there is something fascinating about their music! Very alternative, very intelligent and very interesting!
