It's taken almost a year for this album to emerge into British bookstores, but now it's here grab it. For Leigh Bingham and Matt Slocum aka Sixpence None The Richer are MAJOR talents. Leigh possesses an eerily haunting voice, a cross between Marie McKee and Christine Dente while Matt's droning, ringing guitar textures recall both Out Of The Grey and early Choir. The songs here are outstanding, my current favourites being "Spotlight" with its undulating, layered guitar parts and the ballad based on Proverbs "Trust" but wherever one investigates one finds cohesive singing and playing. Leigh (17) and Matt (20) are still at college in Texas. Just imagine what delights they'll produce in the future. In the meantime buy this classic debut.
