The original 'Roots' album, released in 2007, was very warmly received by the critics and US Christian radio confirming Shawn as one of America's most articulate and sensitive singer/songwriters. As a stopgap CD (and one which hasn't gained a UK release) six of Shawn's best songs are here remixed with a slightly more prominent electronic edge, complete with drum loops and understated backbeats. In fact, the song "Light" sounds almost like trip-hop and that and "Waltz In 3" have undergone considerable restructuring. Overall, this EP shows again that Shawn is a songsmith able to communicate his faith without a hint of cliché and with considerable passion though whether his fans are ready for an electronic-orientated project remains to be seen.
