Washington-based minister, missionary and recording artist Seon Smith's latest album is aimed at encouraging people to hold on to Christ during hard times and proceeds from the sale this release will go to help orphans in his native country of Trinidad and Tobago. For the most part, this release is made up of laid back R&B grooves that praise and point to God with the help of Smith's distinctive and soulful voice. Whilst tracks like the meandering "Storm" tend not to go anywhere, the thought-provoking "Land Of The Living" shows Smith's potential as an artist with a social conscience. Arguably though, an acoustic version of this song and the haphazard and unpolished "I Will Serve You To The End" - both of which stray in style from Smith's natural R&B habitat - should have been left off this release as they simply don't match up to the relative quality found elsewhere. Nonetheless, this is a fairly good outing released for a good cause.
