London-based gospel artist Sarah Teibo's second album is a classy affair and no mistake. Possessing a slick, soulful but never overstated R&B feel courtesy of producers Luke 'GKID' Grant and Shaun 'Hypertone' Barrett, MOBO-nominated Teibo's impressively creative vocal performance lifts songs that cover fairly basic themes of faith to another level. For instance, the opener "Like A Child", the neo soul of "Safe In You" and the Afrobeat-tinged "Blessed" do more or less what their titles suggest but, thanks to the sizeable skills of Teibo and a big cast of collaborators, everyone involved succeeds in turning each piece into something spiritually uplifting and artistically dynamic. Spurred on by the recent death of her mother, the title track sees the singer offer up encouragement from the heart that God will see us through hard times whilst the simply sublime "Make You Smile" - full of clever jazz chords and an auto-tuned vocal from Teibo - is arguably the album's highlight. Whilst a handful of short interludes feel more like padding in the absence of enough full length material, the quality found elsewhere and the ability to secure the services of gospel legend Fred Hammond on an otherwise perfunctory remix of "Like A Child" says it all in terms of Teibo's standing as an artist on the cusp of great things.
