This independent release introduces this Nottingham-based singer to the Christian market after many years of ministry. With a voice reminding me in part of Lucie Silvas, the title track with its nice sax opening (Carl Stanley) is a good example, fitting firmly into the MOR category, its encouraging, faith building lyrics will be a winner to many. Trevor Edinsborough proves to be a strong songwriter (he writes all the material on this seven-song mini-album). Production and mixing is a mixed affair however, with Samantha's voice in danger of being swallowed up, "The World Needs Love" for instance has piano, guitar and bass all fighting for attention. However, strengths do shine through elsewhere; "Special Friend" is beautiful in its simplicity and demonstrates what a classy voice Samantha has. The song that is likely to divide critics is "Paradise" which has a contemporary R&B feel (with a hint of Jenifer Lopez) and a rap from MC Spyda. I personally enjoyed the track though it is somewhat out of sync with the rest of the album.
