Sakis is a Greek electronic composer/producer whose "Eternal Peace" featured here won him first prize in the 2010 International Composition Competition, which is slightly odd as to my ears it is one of the weaker tracks on the album. The opener "From The Sky" combines classic synth sounds (think Wakeman) with Europop abandon setting the tone for what should be an unusual, although not unpleasant, experience. Unfortunately "A New Beginning" is reminiscent of an '80s football anthem without the vocals. But despite these reservations, there is something relentlessly cheerful about 'New Earth', which no doubt accounts for its download success. Highlights of the album include "So This Is Heaven", "The Light Within Us" and the aforementioned "From The Sky". Overall 'New Earth' could have provided the backing track for countless '80s pop records. This album provides a certain background ambience, but it is probably not one you would listen to repeatedly.
