Randy is a US Christian underground veteran whose band Mad At The World have been recording albums, and changing styles, for many a year. But it's brother Roger Rose who handles most of the vocals and instrumentation for MATW so Randy now has another string to his bow making solo albums. This, his fourth, has much of the retro-pop feel of current Mad At The World while Randy's voice, though not the world's strongest with a tendency towards an alarming thinness of tone at the top end adequately deals with this set of songs which include a prayer for Jesus to save a sinful world ("Crazy Little World"), God's faithfulness ("Give Up On Me") and making the right choices ("Life Passes By"). Lyrically a bit thin and the sleeve suggests something altogether a lot darker than the summery pop of 'A Crazy Little World', but still a pleasant enough pop gospel album.

I think this is an incredibly weak album from a veteran
performer...Randy's songwriting reminds me of stuf I did
back in high school when I was a baby Christian...or more to
the point, like Mike Warnke said of early Christian
rock..."Jesus, Jesus, Whoa whoa whoa, Jesus Jesus, ha ha ha
ha, Jesus Jesus, yeah yeah yeah, etc...
Don't get me wrong, that's the point of Christian music, but
this album is just soooooo trite! Couple that with the
glaring rip-off of the Beatles [Across the Universe] with
"My Life"...it's a wonder he didn't get sued!
