This musical production may have been better released as an amateur DVD to its local parish. It may be popular with its cast and immediate church but to unleash this musical on an unsuspecting public was not a good idea. This reminds me of the Fisherfolk and Playschool combined with influences of early Kendrick compositions immaturely produced. There are a few melodic moments and a couple of pleasant voices to be heard. Having desperately tried to find snatches of material that could be praised, I cringed my way through this whole CD, which is really very 'Vicar Of Dibley'. There's almost a comical Bob The Builder moment a couple of songs when a children's chorus sing "Can we help them?" Well, probably not! I know Roger is a tried-and-tested creator of Christian musicals but there is no escaping this production's huge deficiencies.

As an amateur production the Inn Crowd was quite enjoyable. However, as a Christian Christmas play that was meant to carry a message, I believe it lost any credibility by having Mary sing "Why pick on me?".......displaying an attitude that is the exact opposite of the Magnificat. Not good enough.
